Get your act together, Bucs

Sunday World - - World Of Sport - LOUIS MAZIBUKO

UNDER normal circumstances the expensively assembled Orlando Pirates would have been odds-on favourites to thrash Maritzburg United when the two sides meet in their Absa Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium this afternoon.

But after conceding six goals in two games, Bucs are suddenly not the safest of bets against the comparably unfashionable coastal side.

The black and white clad team are one of the few teams in the PSL who play entertaining attacking football.

Unfortunately, their defenders have become entertaining in a different, tragi-comic way. They seem to be rolling out the red carpet for incoming balls these days. If they don t

’ get their acts together, Bucs coach Julio Leal will always be under pressure to get good results from the ensemble, which boasts eye-catching individuals such as Thandani Ntshumayelo, Benni Mccarthy, Luis Boa Morte, Isaac Chansa, Andile Jali and the rapidly rising Tukelo Rantie.

The Maritzburg side put up a decent performance against Ajax Cape Town last week, only to lose concentration towards the last stages of the game and lose 2-0. They ll have to keep it together

’ when they play Bucs, who will enjoy the support of their home fans.

The axe is hovering above Platinum Stars coach, Owen Da Gama who is expected to beat Bloemfontein Celtic in their game at the Botshabelo Stadium this afternoon.

TOP JOB : Andile Jali’s efforts will be wasted if the defence doesn’t pull finger.
