SOUTH African Breweries (SAB) has roped in celebrities Melanie Bala and Robert Marawa as ambassadors for its new 18+ campaign, which is aimed at discouraging minors from drinking.
Research by the Unisa shows that a percentage of teenagers in the average South African home have at some stage experimented with alcohol, but that the vast majority of parents believe that their kids do not drink.
SAB wants to encourage parents to have open and honest conversations about alcohol with their children.
All South African adults have a role to play in bolstering the efforts to reduce underage alcohol consumption, and the problems that arise if left unchecked, said Bala.
