ANSTEY JOINS SCANDAL!
XOLILE MTSHAZO ACTRESS Jay Anstey has jumped ship from SABC to rival channel e.tv.
Anstey (23), who played Charlie Holmes on SABC3 s will now feature on as Kate, alongside her father, Norman.
It won t be the first time Anstey co-stars with her father on the same show. They worked to- gether on but their characters never interacted.
I was not simple getting the role of Kate,” she said.
I had to go through auditions just like everyone else. People have this notion that as an established actress you are headhunted They didn t want me initially. It was only at the end of the auditions that I received a call that I got the role.
I m glad I decided to move to e.tv. It s a market that has not been tapped into and they are professional. Everyone is treated equally, and there are no diva tendencies that we see among soapie actors.
Personally, I have this feeling I m about to reach something amazing in the entertainment business, because I m exploring the commercial side of things.” Anstey revealed that besides her acting career, which she said is her bread and butter she co-owns a production company with her sister Amy. They have just finished working with Nigerian muso Flavour of
fame, shooting a new music video.

She quashed talk that she was about to walk down the aisle soon with her muso boyfriend, George.
No, I m still young. It s early days. My priority is to build my career, and it s a process.
I also have no ambitions of becoming a model, because I ve been told I m overweight. But I have acted as a model before,” she said.
Anstey said her father tried to dissuade her from becoming an actress and encouraged her to pursue an alternative career path.
In the end, both my parents supported me.
My mom, who was a ballet dancer, encouraged me because I ve always wanted to be an actress.”
