PORT Al­fred High Scool (PAHS) pupil, Lise-Mari Coet­zee, played a role in help­ing the Eastern Prov­ince U13A squash team se­cure fourth place out of 14 teams at the re­cent in­ter-pro­vin­cial tour­na­ment. The team lost to North­erns A (nine games to 10) and to Bor­der A (10 games all). Th­ese teams fin­ished sec­ond and third re­spec­tively with KwaZu­luNatal tak­ing first place.


Spon­sored by Re­freshhh! Bev­er­ages, PAHS held a suc­cess­ful golf day on Fri­day June 30 at the Royal Port Al­fred Golf Club. Funds raised go to­wards im­prov­ing the ed­u­ca­tional re­sources for the chil­dren in Grades 1, 3 and 3. Head Boy, Wian Van Aswe­gen, played in a four-ball with deputy head­mas­ter, Ian Knott-Craig, for­mer PAHS par­ent, Steve Gard­ner and Colin Wig­gle, se­cur­ing ninth place over­all. Van Aswe­gen also won the prize for the best gross on the day with a score of 69.

“A sin­cere thank you is ex­tended to the nu­mer­ous spon­sors who helped make the event thor­oughly en­joy­able.

Sandy Fryer, Sue Roll, Heather Lock­yer and Brian Reid won first place and plans are afoot to make this an an­nual event,” PAHS mar­ket­ing head, Laura Mile­ham, said.
