Adjustment budget blues

Talk of the Town - - Opinion - DAWIE VAN WYK, Parra chairman

THE ratepayers of Ndlambe are being totally ignored!

The municipality agreed during the budget period to reduce overtime and casuals significantly, which they did.

Now all they do is put vast variances into the adjustment budget. The ratepayers feel this is extremely underhanded. Why agree to reduce the initial budget for casuals and overtime only to increase it again in the adjustment budget?

Casuals was set at R1 286 567. The variance was R1 229 688 making the new adjusted figure R2516 255, an increase of 95.58%.

Worse still, overtime was originally pegged at R2 562 069 but, with a R3 205 932.30 adjustment to the budget, the new figure of R5768 001.30 means a 125.13%.
