‘Mermaids’ make splash at challenge
THE Kenton Tennis Club hosted the second annual challenge match between the girls of Port Alfred High School and the Kenton Club ladies, dubbed the “Mermaids”, last Wednesday.
This round robin event, held in Kenton, was played in a great spirit of fun and thoroughly enjoyed by all the players.
In this, the second year, the Mermaids were convincing winners, having narrowly lost last year.
However, Kenton organiser Sue Baxter said that most importantly the real wins on the day were the friendships created and the good sportsmanship shown all round.
The teacher in charge of the girls, Marlene Gibson, said the matchup was most enjoyable and the girls had fought hard.
