Ridiculous spike in rent a grave concern
THERE is a concerning problem relating to ridiculous rent increases.
Landlords are putting tenants’ rent up just as they please, especially in Port Alfred where people are not even earning a salary to the amount of the rent.
Landlords are running away with their ideas of greed.
It is more than plain to see more and more people cannot afford these payments. flotsam and jetsam; after all, we’re all being urged to pick up three pieces of plastic on every beach walk. May I also applaud SuperSPAR for having taken the lead in reducing plastic bag use at Rosehill. Other Port Alfred supermarkets and businesses: consider yourselves challenged to follow suit. Pick n Pay, why not donate a weekly supply of your bread packets (free advertising)? Then add this line to the existing beach notice: “Pick n Pay picks up poo and plastic!”
Days are coming when these landlords are going to be sitting with empty houses that they cannot rent out, then we will see how squatters move in.
