A new look at Lala Lapa
ala Lapa Lodge in Kleinemonde was bought by the Louw family about a year ago, and they have run the convenience store as well as the restaurant, butchery and four chalets (completely re-vamped), which have all been extremely popular.
The restaurant and pub have also been renovated and upgraded.
Sumari Kruger runs the restaurant and
Laccommodation side of the business, while her partner, Johannes Venter, manages the pub and butchery. When they recently closed the convenience store, they donated items to Port Alfred Lions member Neville Williamson to distribute at his discretion.
Williamson offered Talk of the Town the goods for our Santa Senior Shoebox campaign.
We need as much as we can get, so two Talk of the Town staff went along to collect the boxes.
Thank you to all at Lala Lapa for your generous donation.
We were also offered lunch at the Lala Lapa restaurant and were surprised by the comprehensive menu to cater for all tastes.
The pizza I chose was honestly one of the best pizzas I have tasted in a long time, and reasonably priced too. The pork chops and mash with a side of salad also looked scrumptious and tender.
Every night there are popular specials for under R60, as well as an a la carte menu. The meat looks particularly excellent, all from their own butchery.
There is regular entertainment and quiz evenings are held by Neville Williamson.
After lunch we popped into the butchery, which sources its top-quality meat from up-country. They deliver daily to Port Alfred and surrounding areas.
This is a real gem that is often forgotten, but worth the trip. We will certainly be going back.
