Bernard to Blow In The Box
Blow In The Box did not have the best of luck in his last start. He ended up too far back after having been squeezed out at the start but when he started to run on strongly he still looked as if he would win.
However, whether the earlier setback took its toll, or he found 1600m a touch too far, or he still needed the run in his second start after a layoff during which he was gelded, is uncertain.
Today he lines up in Race 7, a MR 71 Handicap over 1400m, and this time there should be no excuses. This will be his third race after a layoff, he returns to the distance over which he won, he is well enough drawn at No 6 and Bernard Fayd’Herbe is back in the irons.
Blow In The Box is one of three runners from the Joey Ramsden yard and the runner from whom he can expect the biggest challenge is stable companion Rommel. This son of Var is quite highly regarded by the yard and we might not have seen the best of him.
Ramsden took him to Port Elizabeth last month to contest the Listed Racing Association Plate over 1400m. It probably did not work in his favour that the meeting had to be switched to the Polytrack and his 4.75-length sixth behind Pack Leader might be a lot better than it looks.
Another to consider is Silver Master from the Candice BassRobinson yard. He seems to have his limitations but is consistent.
