Miller holds the aces

Trainer Cliffie Miller looks to be holding a winning hand at Flamingo Park today when sending out Timkat (Collen Storey) and Bright Flame (Marco van Rensburg) in Race 7, the Kimberley 1400 (NonBlack Type) over 1400m.

Miller’s charges – both five-time winners – will renew rivalry after clashing in the 1200m Flamingo Sprint where Bright Flame 55.5kg (Storey) won by a short-head from Timkat 60kg (Van Rensburg) who has not raced since.

Ridden by Van Rensburg again, Bright Flame followed up that win with a fast-finishing second in a Pinnacle Stakes over today’s distance. Though meeting Timkat at 1kg worse terms this time, Bright Flame could have the edge again.

However, both will have to be on guard against four-time winner Rock Pigeon (apprentice Nathan Klink) out of Leon Erasmus’ stable. This filly has won three times with Klink aboard in her last five starts – and with only 52kg to shoulder and a good draw, could make her presence felt.

Next best are True Words, Arianos Bagofgold and Notacademicatall.

Cliffie Miller-trained seventime winner Burgundy Rose could defy top-weight in Race 2. Since joining Miller’s stable this mare has won four times.

Making most appeal of the others are Movie Show, Roman Evening, Waterloo Warrior and On Your Life.

Miller and Van Rensburg could be up to the task with Utopian who contests Race 3, a 1300m Maiden Plate. The pick of the others are Inn Flitemode, Bugle Player, Eagle Ruler and Manaftermidnight. To take a bet: Go to www.tabonline.co.za or www.bettingworld.co.za
