Carrim promises regular broadband updates

National government welcomes initiatives at provincial level to roll out broadband as this is in line with its policies, Communications Minister Yunus Carrim says.

Speaking at an inter-governmental forum (IGF) in Pretoria last week, he said the government would be releasing more information about its broadband policy at quarterly IFGs to review progress and to extend information about the policy’s programmes.

Last week’s forum discussed the broadband policy, the issue of shools connectivity, broadcast digital migration and the Green Paper on ICT policy review.c

The meeting was attended by Ministers, Communications Deputy Minister, Stella NdabeniAbrahams, provincial MECs, Chairperson and Chief Executive of State-Owned Companies, senior national and provincial government officials and senior leaders of the South African Local Government Association.
