Man dies in night-time collision in Potchefstroom, woman injured

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed in a collision in Potchefstroom this week, according to ER24 yesterday.

The collision took place at the intersection of Govan Mbeki and Nelson Mandela Drive on Thursday night in Potchefstroom in North West, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing-Harduth said.

When paramedics arrived, they found the two cars on the roadside.

“A man found in one of the vehicles had succumbed to his injuries,” Bodasing-Harduth said.

A woman was trapped in the other vehicle involved in the accident. She has moderate injuries. “She was extricated from the vehicle by Fire and Rescue,” Bodasing-Harduth said.

Another passenger escaped with minor injuries.

The injured people were treated at the scene and taken to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital.
