Platinum Stars goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela is looking to continue his early fine form when they host Chippa United in the quarterfinals of the MTN8 at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex this afternoon.

The Dikwena keeper produced a brilliant performance in their 1-0 win over SuperSport United in the league’s opening game at the same venue, making a couple of vital saves to ensure they started their campaign on a winning note.

“I am grateful that I played so well in the first game of the season. Pre-season was good and the team spirit was really good. Even the game before this one against Orlando Pirates was a good game,” Mzimela was quoted as saying on the club’s website.

“It’s that game that gave me confidence. I had a great game. I am very happy we won this encounter. As a team we are very confident and we will be happy to get one trophy, as you know on Saturday we play Chippa United in the MTN8. We would be happy to win that game and go all the way,” said Dikwena’s No 1.

Going up against the Chilli Boys will be a true test for the Phokeng outfit, who are looking to grab silverware this season following a good run last campaign which ended with the team finishing third.

Chippa have started the 2016/2017 on a bright note too. Dan Malesela’s side will head into this encounter having beaten Free State Stars 2-1 in their first fixture of the season.

They will be making an appearance in the top-eight competition for the first time in the club’s history against Ea Lla Koto.

In the team’s last two meetings, Dikwena beat United 3-2 at home, while Chippa recorded a 4-1 victory in the second round.
