Gordhan’s budget does not balance

-

The budget does not balance according to me, a matriculant of 1961. Pravin Gordhan said SAA showed a shortfall of some R1.5 billion in 2015-2016. Ja well, no fine, but it was in February 2017 that the carrier had to pay a R1.5 billion plus penalty to a fellow carrier.

Should the dreaded unforeseen happen in the next 12 months and Gordhan is either sent packing or gets out of his own volition, what’s to stop Dudu Myeni, pictured, and SAA going back on their word to seek a new CEO and CFO and pay the R1 billion fine, just as Bathabile Dlamini and Sassa (CPS grant saga) has done by ignoring the highest court in the land?

I am guessing that the ICC case will come to nought as well.

A real case of following the boss in his attitude towards the constitution of the soon-to-be renamed “Banana Republic of South Africa”.

Then we come to the levy on fuel, a total of 39 cents per litre (30c on fuel and 9c RAF).

Brian Molefe is now MP in North West, “exiting” from Eskom as CEO, apparently not able to get more money from the electricity giant, and may in future be able to extract more from the ministry of finance.

Now I balance!
