Turk­ish tanks in joint army drills

– Turkey has re­de­ployed tank units from dif­fer­ent parts of the coun­try to the Sir­nak prov­ince, lo­cated on the bor­der with Iraq, for joint drills with Bagh­dad, un­der­taken amid ten­sions over the re­cent Kur­dish in­de­pen­dence ref­er­en­dum, lo­cal me­dia re­ported yes­ter­day.

The tank units ar­rived at the bor­der ter­ri­tory at night due to se­cu­rity con­cerns, the Anadolu news agency re­ported.

Turkey and Iraq launched mil­i­tary drills in late Septem­ber, ahead of the ref­er­en­dum. – Sput­nik
