Spat brews over barred ac­tivist

– China lodged a diplo­matic protest af­ter Bri­tain asked why a British hu­man rights ac­tivist was barred from Hong Kong.

Im­mi­gra­tion agents stopped Bene­dict Rogers, deputy chair of the Con­ser­va­tive Party’s hu­man rights com­mis­sion, from en­ter­ing China.

British For­eign Sec­re­tary Boris John­son said his gov­ern­ment would be “seek­ing an ur­gent ex­pla­na­tion”. China “launched stern rep­re­sen­ta­tions” over the com­ments. – AFP
