Bid for French cancer business
– Swiss pharmaceutical group Novartis plans to strengthen its cancer medication business by buying French firm Advanced Accelerator Applications (AAA) for $3.9 billion (R55 billion).
Novartis, one of the world’s biggest medicine makers, announced its bid for 100% of AAA shares yesterday. AAA is specialised in nuclear medicine, using radioactive substances to detect and treat illnesses such as cancer. – dpa
