Bid for French cancer busi­ness

– Swiss phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal group No­var­tis plans to strengthen its cancer med­i­ca­tion busi­ness by buy­ing French firm Ad­vanced Ac­cel­er­a­tor Ap­pli­ca­tions (AAA) for $3.9 bil­lion (R55 bil­lion).

No­var­tis, one of the world’s big­gest medicine mak­ers, an­nounced its bid for 100% of AAA shares yes­ter­day. AAA is spe­cialised in nu­clear medicine, us­ing ra­dioac­tive sub­stances to de­tect and treat ill­nesses such as cancer. – dpa
