FROM SCI-FI TO STEAMY, IT’S WAITING FOR YOU
This spin-off from the hugely popular Netflix original, centres on the rise of the Guadalajara drug cartel in the 1980s under kingpin Félix Gallardo (played by Diego Luna).
At odds with Gallardo and his vicious outfit of sicarios (that would be “assassins”), is DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña), who moves to Mexico to help bring the cartel down.
Naturally, much like his counterparts in the original series, Camarena soon finds that he’s way out of his depth.
Expect a high bodycount, political shenanigans and possibly some heart-wrenching tragedy.
Narcos: Mexico lands on Netflix on November 16 Star Trek’s Chris Pine stars in this Netflix original movie about the life of Robert The Bruce, the 14th Century Scottish upstart who defied the hated English King Edward I.
The defeated nobleman who turned outlaw leads a group of Scottish lords in their quest for freedom against the occupation of Scotland.
Featuring some fantastic performances (Chris Pine is convincing in the lead and Stephen Dillaine is deliciously loathsome as Edward), and shot with a grandeur to rival Game Of Thrones, Outlaw Kind is a must-watch for this month.
Outlaw King now. is on Netflix right If you’re looking to laugh yourself silly, look no further than Future Man, a series in which a disgruntled janitor is called upon to save the world. Yes, really.
Played with some self-effacing charm by Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) Josh the janitor’s only joy in life is playing a video game set in the future.
Once he clocks it, however, his world is turned upside down when soldiers arrive from the future to inform him that the game is actually a recruitment tool sent back in time.
Since he’s the only person in his timeline who has beaten it, Josh is pulled into the resistance. Future Man is fantastic fun.
It is on Showmax right now. From the ridiculous to the salacious, Showmax also offers the first two seasons of The Girlfriend Experience, an anthology series that really shouldn’t be streamed at work. The first season follows Christine (Riley Keough) a university student who also moonlights as a highprice call girl. The second involves two storylines, one involving Washington lobbyists using a scandal to blackmail a fund raiser and the other centres on a woman on the run from an abusive relationship, whose decision to turn to prostitution may cost her US witness protection. Steamy. Both seasons on Showmax.
