Bail being granted much too easily

- Lynne Vorster

THOMAS Smith Shedden (the motorist who is accused of killing cyclist Sonnica Kensley) is given bail to go home because he has a business and he has to pay maintenance for two children.

Clayton Kensley lost his wife and is injured and then has all the pain, heartache, funeral and an empty home to deal with.

Weigh it all up and what does that tell you. The victims always get the short end of the stick.

Life is all about choices. Smith Shedden was given a choice in 2010, now gets a second chance.

I’m sure his children would have been well looked after.

He did not think of his children when the accident took place. So why give bail? The whole country is so afraid of harsh sentences that’s why there are so many perpetrators walking our streets.

Another example, Willie Vazi, a decent hard working man.

My children remember him and speak highly of him even though they left Victoria Park many years ago.

Another family who are suffering while the killers are scot free.

Enough excuses, lock them up, because that’s your duty and your choice, magistrates.
