Rape and murder accused in court

A YOUNG man arrested in connection with the hijacking of two Bay students earlier this month, when one was killed and the other raped, will apply for bail on September 1.

The 18-year-old, who cannot be named until he pleads to the rape charge, appeared briefly in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was remanded in custody until next week.

Thabani Ngwekazi, 28, was shot dead, while his female friend, 21, was raped by two men.
