Mourners praise PAC ‘hero’ Gaqa
PAC stalwart and Poqo cadre Pumelele Gaqa was lauded as a hero at his funeral in Bhaziya on Saturday.
Gaqa had led a campaign to have the remains of his fellow cadres – who were hanged in Pretoria in 1963 after a group of white construction workers were killed – returned to their families.
He died last month at 75 after he collapsed during one of the reburials.
More than 500 people, among them PAC president Luthando Mbinda and MEC Pemmy Majodina, praised Gaqa for his contribution to the liberation of the country and his efforts in ensuring the return of his comrades’ remains.
