Shoes not made for walking

-

THE majority of shoes sold today are of such a poor quality that they are just a canvas, covered in plastic to look like leather.

After about six months the plastic starts to peel and in some cases the soles, which are glued on, not stitched, start to come loose.

There is no chance of returning this inferior product to the shop where purchased for a refund or replacement. These shoes could cost about R300 or more. If I purchase an electric kettle or steam iron for half the price of these shoes and it gives me a problem within one year, the product is replaced.

What is the consumer’s protection in this situation? I am not the only one with this dilemma.
