Bakkies collide – 11 injured
ELEVEN people were injured in a head-on-collision between two bakkies near the St Albans bridge at the Blue Horizon Bay off-ramp on the N2 yesterday.
The off-ramp was closed for about an hour in the morning while the EMS medical helicopter was called to assist with transporting the injured to hospital.
Police spokesman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said a Telkom bakkie had taken the off-ramp and was turning right onto the bridge when it collided with a construction vehicle.
“The construction bakkie was transporting 10 people, eight of whom were on the back,” Naidu said.
“The construction bakkie rolled on impact.”
The driver of the construction bakkie was the only person seriously injured.
