Traffic circle for KwaDwesi

The Herald (South Africa) - - OPINION & ANALYSIS -

I WANT to congratulate Mr Trollip for making resources available to fix the intersection at the entrance to Walmer township recently.

Now surely the next mayoral project is KwaDwesi’s Ziyabuya Complex entrance and intersection.

The traffic logjam during peak hours on this precinct is unbearable, with pedestrian, car traffic, taxis, shoppers and hawkers all jostling for space and mobility.

Is this logjam ignored by the municipality’s authorities because of it being a black area?

We can’t cope with this peak-hour chaos anymore at KwaDwesi.

I urge the traffic department to go and observe the morning and afterwork peak hours to see for themselves – such chaos and competition for space!

A circle or a set of robots to manage such big peak-hour volumes is urgently required to have peace of mind when approaching the intersection and be safe from inevitable accidents and fender-denting – preferably a circle.

Your attention on this matter will be much appreciated.

Linda, Port Elizabeth
