Blocked drain floods the road

The Herald (South Africa) - - YOUR VIEWS -

DEAR mayor Athol Trollip,

The provincial main road that serves the Seaview village is becoming very dangerous when it rains.

The dip at the approach to the village, from the Port Elizabeth side, is under water with the least bit of rain.

The flooding spreads out right across the road and is a serious danger to traffic.

The pipe culvert and side drain used to be kept open and clean by the previous regional council, but now appears to be no longer maintained.

Please, roads authority, don’t leave it unattended until something serious happens, like a death caused by a car losing control.

I acknowledge that finances set aside for road maintenance are limited and much needs to be done in this city, but this hazard is a serious problem.

Kathryn, Port Elizabeth
