DA of­fi­cials meet tra­di­tional lead­ers

PROVIN­CIAL bosses of the DA met lead­ers of the East­ern Cape House of Tra­di­tional Lead­ers in Mthatha yes­ter­day in a bid to garner com­mu­nity sup­port and forge re­la­tions with roy­als ahead of the 2019 gen­eral elec­tion.

DA provin­cial leader Nqaba Bhanga, Bhisho Leg­is­la­ture leader Bobby Steven­son, MPLs Sanele Ma­gaqa and Nosimo Balindlela and provin­cial spokesman Mlindi Nhanha met the newly elected tra­di­tional lead­ers ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee, led by Nkosi Mwelo Nonkonyana.

Bhanga said it was cus­tom­ary for a group of lead­ers to be in­tro­duced to the tra­di­tional rulers to de­velop and build re­la­tion­ships.

Nonkonyana and Nkosi Langa Mavuso, who are chair­man and deputy chair­man of the group and also Con­tralesa, said the man­ner in which the DA had dealt with the im­pris­on­ment of AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo – ter­mi­nat­ing his DA mem­ber­ship af­ter his con­vic­tion – left tra­di­tional lead­ers fum­ing.
