Gallery invites performers to join Youth Month event

THE Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum is marking youth month by inviting young artists to a new platform.

Its call out to all local poets and performing artists starts on Friday with a briefing session and walkabout at 2pm at the NMM Art Museum at 1 Park Drive in Central.

This briefing will be in preparation for the main event, which will be held on Saturday June 30.

“Local poets and performing artists will be challenged to create thought-provoking performances in response to artworks that reflect past injustices and the current struggles for freedom and democracy,” a spokesman for the museum said.

The art museum is still closed on weekends, public holidays and Tuesday mornings but otherwise is open from 9am to 5pm. Entrance is free. For more information e-mail:
