Event aims to equip creative entrepreneurs
With the intention to empower local creative entrepreneurs with skills, tools and platforms to help them access global markets and develop their brands, ZAXL Online founder Jermaine Charles will hold a creative conference open to the public tomorrow.
The Manifest Creative Conference will host an array of speakers from the Eastern Cape’s fashion, music and arts industries.
PR company Buzz About Town Communications’ Njabulo Madlala said: “Platforms such as the Manifest Conference are important because creative entrepreneurs are often without guidance as to how they can handle the business aspect of it all.
“There is often a misconception you cannot be a creative and business-minded at the same time. This event is breaking down this stereotype.”
Buzz About Town Communications is responsible for the event’s publicity.
Key speakers will include Port Elizabeth fashion designers Ati Setipa of Ati Designs, Walk In Closet designer Evans Zemba, Bay DJ Sam Jennings, ZAXL Online’s Charles and Bay band Clique Claq vocalist Thoko, among others.
The market-style event, to be held at the Athenaeum in Central, will host a range of pop-up stalls, from fashion accessories, fine art by 4 Blind Mice to clothing by Walk In Closet and more.
With the aim of the event being to encourage entrepreneurship among the youth and support existing entrepreneurs, it was important also to have creatives showcase their work on the day, Madlala said.
The event will run from 11am to 4pm. Tickets are R100 at the door.
Buzz About Town Communications will also host the Tales of the Sisterhood women empowerment event from 11am to 3pm at Isango Gate Boutique Hotel on August 4, with speakers Tumi Flusk and Bay DJ Sam “Miss Jay”.
Bay singer LoveChild will entertain guests and MC Suliwe Sihlwayi will host the show.
“The main goal of the event is to empower women to live their best lives and be inspired by the successful women who will be guest speakers at the event,” Madlala said.
The event will feature a fashion show and a live makeup tutorial.
Tickets cost R200, inclusive of food and drinks.
