Live wire deaths

WARRI: Seven people died after a live electrical wire fell on them while watching football in Calabar city, southern Nigeria, police said yesterday, but residents said the toll was higher.

Police spokesperson Irene Ugbo said another 10 were critically injured at a viewing centre on Thursday night.

Resident Ukeme Joseph put the death toll at 20 instead, saying more than 80 people were crammed inside at the time.
