SATRIX ETF GIVES ACCESS TO CHINA’S EQUITY MARKET

-

EXCHANGE-TRADED fund (ETF) provider Satrix has launched the Satrix MSCI China ETF. Its initial public offering on the JSE opened on Wednesday this week. The ETF tracks the MSCI China Index, giving investors access to the broader Chinese equity market in a single trade. Helena Conradie, the chief executive of Satrix, says: “China has the second-largest stock market globally. As it moves from an export-driven economy to one of domestic consumption, the sheer size of its population makes it an attractive investment, especially in industries like technology, health care and luxury goods. This also means that as the trade war between China and the US ebbs and flows, Chinese companies, especially those which focus on the mainland, are less affected and more inclined to grow.” Investors will be able to access the ETF in rands.
