It is of no benefit to keep bailing SAA out

The Mercury - - OPINION -

THE way SAA is draining our financial coffers, it is clearly of no benefit to keep the carrier afloat.

SAA has drained our budgets by R11 billion in the past few years. Good money is wasted in a bad business. Why is the government bailing out SAA? All that money could be better spent on service delivery, industrialising rural areas and skills development.

Most state-owned enterprises are overstaffed and executives overpaid. SAA has dug big holes in taxpayers’ pockets. I say privatise it with conditions and we will be better off without it in the long run.
