NEWLY appointed public works and roads MEC Mmule Maluleke said she would make the department as one of the best service delivery departments in Bokone Bophirima.

Maluleke said she was appointed to come and serve communities in the province.

“I won’t be able to fulfil the mandate given to me by the premier if we don’t work together,” Maluleke said. “We all have the responsibility to make the best out of the huge challenges facing this department.”

She said she would push the department to work much harder to speed up service delivery to the people.

“My job moving forward is to work more with the collective in turning around the department, moving with the necessary speed in ensuring that we reposition, rebrand and renew the department as expected by the leadership of the province,” she said

Maluleke said Bokone Bophirima was a very rural province with a lot of dilapidated infrastructure and with limited budget to address such challenges.

“However, as qualified as you, we need to find a way within this limited resources at our disposal.

“During my interaction with the department when I was serving at the portfolio committee at the legislature, I noted the efforts that this greatest team was trying to put in to rebrand reposition and renew the people’s province of Bokone Bophirima,” she said.

Maluleke was appointed as an MEC by premier Supra Muhamapelo in August.

“Hoffman Galeng is appointed as the social development MEC.

“These appointments are as a result of the two vacancies in the affected departments following the demise of Kgakgamatso Nkewu of social development and the release of Madoda Sambatha from his responsibilities as the public works and roads MEC,” spokesperson Brian Setswambung said.

Maluleke said her work would not be a big challenge as she already understood many issues at the department.

“I was dealing with the department most of the time at the legislature and getting into this job, I am well aware of the challenges and the successes of the department.

“My work is to continue where the former MEC, Madoda Sambatha, has left off and immediately look at how best and fast we can improve the services of the department to the people, with the collective led by head of department Mothupi,” she said.

At the exco lekgotla of Bokone Bophirima, Premier Supra Mahumapelo promised Maluleke that his executive would give her department all the necessary support.

“We welcome you to the executive of the government and we will from now on work with you on the mandate to reposition, rebrand and renew that critical department of the province,” he said.
