Line up for marathon and other events

The New Age (Gauteng) - - NORTH WEST NEWS - DAVID SITHOLE

OLYMPIA Park stadium in Rustenburg is to stage a marathon event to promote healthy living.

Bojanala district municipality, in partnership with Athletics North West North, will host a 21.1km run on May 13 to encourage community members to adopt healthy lifestyles through taking part in sport.

For those who might find the 21.1km race too much of a gruelling proposition, there is the option of taking part in the 5km fun run. There is also a shorter event for chidren.

Entry forms for the races, which drew a significant number of competitors when held last year, are already available.

Event organisers have revealed that there will be special medals presented to those participants who manage to complete the respective distances and, as an added incentive, the first 1500 entries for the 21.1km race will receive sparkling new T-shirts.

The championship is in line with calls by Premier Supra Mahumapelo for communities to take up activities that help bringdown obesity levels in the province and that aid people to place more value on lifestyles that promote healthy living.

• For more information you can contact the race organisers on 014 594 2895.
