Moloi replaces sacked Malesela at Chippa United
CHIPPA United seem to have taken a gamble when they fired coach Dan Malesela and replaced him with caretaker coach Teboho Moloi.
Malesela was sacked on Wednesday night following two defeats and one victory in their opening three matches of the season.
The club ran out of patience after the 3-1 loss to Baroka FC at home on Tuesday.
“We can confirm Teboho Moloi as caretaker coach, with immediate effect,” the club said yesterday.
Moloi first joined Chippa in June as an assistant coach to Malesela, only to leave after just a month citing differences with him.
Despite having never led a team as head coach, Moloi cited contrasting coaching philosophies as his reason for falling out with Malesela.
But he has now returned to the club and will be on the bench when they visit Platinum Stars in the PSL match at Royal Bafokeng Stadium tonight.
The Chilli Boys are 12th on the log standings with three points from three matches.
Moloi will hope to get off to a good start against a Dikwena side that also has a new coach in Roger De Sa.
De Sa replaced Peter Butler at the club and having lost his first match to SuperSport United earlier this week, he will fancy his chances against a man he worked with at Orlando Pirates.
Meanwhile, Malesela has already been linked with a move to Polokwane City. The season is only three matches old but already three coaches have been sacked.
Former Free State Stars coach Sammy Troughton was the first to leave.
BIG TASK: Teboho Moloi.
