Mo Flava’s ninth picnic
EVEN after losing about R500 000 to robbers after the vehicle in which they were travelling with the money made from his eighth edition of the Mo Flava New Year’s Day Picnic was held up, the Metro FM radio personality is ready to host his ninth edition at the same venue, Mlando in Kathlehong on the East Rand.
The show manned by heavy hitters such as DJ Fresh, Maphorisa, Shimza, Lady Zamar, Mobi Dixon, Team Mosha, Heavy K, Slique, Mgarimbe, MFR Souls, Mshega, Lebza the Villain, Zan D, Shluda, Kuxx DA Krux, Big Skyy and Mo Flava himself will take place on Monday as has been the norm in the past eight years.
The New Year’s Day Picnic comes just two months after the former Y-FM radio star hosted his own dance floor at the recent Spring Fiesta 2017 in October.
The popular DJ who was heart-broken and traumatised as he had invested his own money into the event has recovered from the loss and is now firmly focused on starting the new year with a bang and hopefully this time around he has learnt his lesson and had all the necessary checks and balances in order so a repeat of this incident does not occur.
Speaking to Gareth Cliff on Cliffcentral about the incident at the time he said a big oversight was made on his part.
“I must say‚ first and foremost‚ it was an oversight on my part in terms of having proper security measures in place.”
“It was a gig that I hosted at a venue that takes about 3 000 people. So there were 3 000 people in there. I had made a little investment into the gig with the production‚ the line-up and everything.”
Mo Flava said the cash collected for entering at the event was “close to half a million. As the money was being moved from the venue‚ it turns out that somebody got information and put out a hit,” he said.
