POLICE officers who were involved in the arrest of anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Timol more than 45 years ago are set to testify in the inquest into his death in detention.

Presiding judge Billy Mothle will issue subpoenas to the police officers who are still alive to testify in the inquest next month. As far as the court knows, based on the testimony of the investigating officer, Capt Ben Nel, three officers who were involved are still alive.
