Top six, PEC face-off
THE ANC top six could meet stiff resistance and possible defiance at its scheduled meeting with the embattled KZN provincial executive committee (PEC).
This emerged amid reports that the top six will refuse the PEC permission to appeal Tuesday’s high court ruling declaring the KZNANC unlawful.
Two PEC members said the provincial leadership was ready to defy the top six if ordered not to appeal the ruling. The Pietermaritzburg High Court ruled that the November 2015 provincial conference which saw the election of Sihle Zikalala and his PEC was unlawful and void.
But one PEC member said he did not expect the top six to prevent the PEC from appealing the courts decision. “To me, there is too much at stake and I don’t see the top six barring the PEC from appealing.”
