PRESENTED by renowned local director, Darryl Spijkers, Calendar Girls is a play about friendship, love and loss. An endearing comedy celebrating women – real, quirky, funny, heartfelt, wholesome women, the svelte and the lumpy, the stars and the wallflowers. Join the women of the Women’s Institute in northern England on their journey from tai chi to chips via a whirlwind of tears trepidation, triumph and laughter. Based on the true story of members of a WI who created an alternative calendar to raise funds for charity, following the death of one of their husbands. The women took traditional WI activities and injected a little twist by being photographed doing these in the nude. Tickets R100, 7.30pm, The Playhouse Theatre, Somerset West.
