Excitement builds for Dipontso
EXCITEMENT is building in the Malutia-Phofung local municipality as the dates for the annual cultural showpiece Dipontso draws near.
Thousands of people from across the province are expected to attend the annual cultural showpiece in QwaQwa. The eight day festivities focus on different ages and will showcase a variety of talents.
Mayor Vusi Tshabalala said that the festival would help to enhance economic activities in his authority and would provide educational and development programmes.
He also wants to promote social cohesion through the event.
Dipontso tsa Maluti is not new to the eastern Free State residents especially in QwaQwa as it was held pre-democracy.
It was then discontinued in the new dispensation only to be reintroduced in 2014.
“The festival belongs to all and the municipality ensured that activities catered for traditional leaders, women, youth, children and people living with disabilities and for sports lovers,” he said.
The festivities will commence on September 24 until October 1.
