100 th Dar­ling Wild­flower Show

THE Dar­ling Wild­flower So­ci­ety cel­e­brates an in­te­gral part of the Cape Fyn­bos King­dom com­pris­ing of Renos­ter­veld, Ri­etveld, Sand­veld and Strand­veld where more than 1 200 dif­fer­ent species of flow­ers can be found. The flower show will be of­fer­ing a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties to en­ter­tain young and old. An en­try ticket in­cludes en­try to the Land­scaped Hall de­pict­ing the flow­ers of the area in their nat­u­ral habi­tat, a free ride on a trac­tor-drawn wagon to see the pris­tine wet­land at Oude Post which is not nor­mally ac­ces­si­ble to the pub­lic and may only be vis­ited dur­ing the show, a craft, gourmet food mar­ket, vet­eran trac­tor and car dis­play, an en­ter­tain­ment tent fea­tur­ing live mu­sic from lo­cal acts, with safe and se­cure park­ing for ve­hi­cles. This year you can also look for­ward to a vast range of work­shops, in­clud­ing Res­tios in the Sand­veld with Pro­fes­sor Peter Lin­der (cur­rently re­sid­ing in Zürich, Switzer­land), !khwattu San Cul­tural Cen­tre will be do­ing work­shops about fyn­bos and the links to tra­di­tional San cul­ture and their her­itage, Tassie Mussie work­shops by Flow­ers On The Stoep, and many more.
