Pre­par­ing for Salga games

ONE of the best per­form­ing dis­trict mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties in the an­nual KZN South African Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment As­so­ci­a­tion (Salga) games, Ilembe, has started pre­par­ing for the games.

To­mor­row, the KwaDukuza lo­cal mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties of Man­deni, Maphumulo and Nd­wedwe will com­pete in 16 sports codes at the Stanger High School sports field.

KwaDukuza mayor Ri­cardo Mthembu said the tour­na­ment will give the dis­trict’s or­gan­is­ers an op­por­tu­nity to se­lect teams and in­di­vid­u­als to rep­re­sent Ilembe at the Salga games in De­cem­ber.

“The games also pro­vide op­por­tu­ni­ties for mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties un­der iIlembe dis­trict to pro­mote their brands, sport­ing fa­cil­i­ties and lo­cal sports tal­ents,” he said.

Youth, sports and gen­der port­fo­lio chair­per­son John Phahla will ad­dress the event as teams re­ceive their of­fi­cial tour­na­ment gear.
