New PDMA di­rec­tor for SAPA

Dr Ziyanda Ma­jok­weni is the newly ap­pointed Di­rec­tor of the Poul­try Dis­ease Man­age­ment Agency. She joins SAPA from her pre­vi­ous role as the Gen­eral Man­ager: Cor­po­rate Af­fairs for the South African Weather Ser­vice where her roles in­cluded stake­holder re­la­tions as well as strat­egy de­vel­op­ment and man­age­ment.

Dr Ma­jok­weni holds a de­gree in Ve­teri­nary Sci­ence, and has com­pleted the Man­age­ment Ad­vance­ment Pro­gramme through the Univer­sity of Wit­wa­ter­srand.

She be­gan her ca­reer as a state vet­eri­nar­ian in the East­ern Cape, af­ter which she spent sev­eral years in pri­vate prac­tice. She has also worked in the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal in­dus­try in var­i­ous risk man­age­ment and farmer sup­port roles.

Dr Ma­jok­weni has worked for the Agri­cul­tural Re­search Coun­cil of South Africa as a Re­searcher and Lab­o­ra­tory Man­ager for the BSE pro­gramme, as well for the CSIR as a Qual­ity As­sur­ance
