Com­mu­nity help for cen­tre

THE chil­dren of Won­der­land un­der the care of Marieke Baker, Protea Su­pers­par and Twizza joined in do­nat­ing food ham­pers to Phumelela Spe­cial Care Cen­tre of Ez­i­be­leni to celebrate the spirit of ubuntu on World Hunger Day re­cently.

Phumelela Spe­cial Care Cen­tre is a cen­tre for un­der­priv­i­leged and dis­abled chil­dren. There are 72 spe­cial chil­dren at the cen­tre on a daily ba­sis. They re­ceive aca­demic and skills train­ing and are fed two bal­anced meals a day.

Phum­lelela Spe­cial Care Cen­tre does not re­ceive any gov­ern­ment fund­ing and is mostly re­liant on the good­will of the Queen­stown com­mu­nity.

A plea has been made to the Queen­stown com­mu­nity to as­sist “Gogo” Nobunto Gulwa with her un­selfish work by do­nat­ing food ham­pers or of­fer- ing help to the cen­tre to make it a safe en­vi­ron­ment for the chil­dren.
