Red Guard of­fi­cers as­sist in drug bust

ON Tues­day last week Red Guard re­sponse of­fi­cers in Mlungisi ap­pre­hended a sus­pect who had robbed a home owner of cash.

They re­cov­ered some of the money and the sus­pect was handed over to the po­lice, op­er­a­tions man­ager Willie Rey­necke told The Rep.

That af­ter­noon, there were in­ci­dents of theft at two su­per­mar­kets, but se­cu­rity of­fi­cers on duty were able to re­cover the stolen goods and hand three sus­pects to the po­lice.

On Wed­nes­day, re­sponse of­fi­cers were called in to a cash loan busi­ness where a per­son was be­ing as­saulted by the pub­lic, al­legedly for steal­ing a woman’s hand­bag. The sus­pect was re­moved to the po­lice sta­tion.

On Satur­day night of­fi­cers re­sponded to a dis­tress call at a su­per­mar­ket where they ap­pre­hended a sus­pect for as­sault­ing the store owner and in the early hours of Mon­day morn­ing of­fi­cers on pa­trol in Mlungisi ap­pre­hended a sus­pect who had robbed a per­son of his cell phone which was re­cov­ered and re­turned.

An hour or two later re­sponse of­fi­cers in Mlungisi ren­dered as­sis­tance to po­lice of­fi­cers who were fol­low­ing up in­for­ma­tion on drug deal­ing.

They ap­pre­hended a sus­pect who was in pos­ses­sion of 10 bags of dagga and sev­eral Man­drax tablets. The sus­pect was taken into cus­tody. – Rep re­porter
