Red Guard officers assist in drug bust
ON Tuesday last week Red Guard response officers in Mlungisi apprehended a suspect who had robbed a home owner of cash.
They recovered some of the money and the suspect was handed over to the police, operations manager Willie Reynecke told The Rep.
That afternoon, there were incidents of theft at two supermarkets, but security officers on duty were able to recover the stolen goods and hand three suspects to the police.
On Wednesday, response officers were called in to a cash loan business where a person was being assaulted by the public, allegedly for stealing a woman’s handbag. The suspect was removed to the police station.
On Saturday night officers responded to a distress call at a supermarket where they apprehended a suspect for assaulting the store owner and in the early hours of Monday morning officers on patrol in Mlungisi apprehended a suspect who had robbed a person of his cell phone which was recovered and returned.
An hour or two later response officers in Mlungisi rendered assistance to police officers who were following up information on drug dealing.
They apprehended a suspect who was in possession of 10 bags of dagga and several Mandrax tablets. The suspect was taken into custody. – Rep reporter
