Thefts rife in the past week
LAST Monday night, Red Guard response officers attended to a panic alarm at a house in Ezibeleni where they apprehended a suspect who lived in the house and stole cash from the homeowner, operations manager Willie Reynecke told The Rep. The suspect was handed over to the police.
On Wednesday afternoon, response officers were summoned to a shop where they apprehended a suspect who was under the influence of alcohol and causing problems. He, too, was handed over to the police. The security officer on duty at a butchery apprehended a suspect for theft of meat, but it was recovered and returned before the suspect was handed over.
On Saturday morning, the company’s 24-hour control room received a call regarding an armed robbery at a cash loan business. Response officers assisted the manager to restrain the suspect and hand him over to police.
On Sunday morning, response officers attended to an alarm at a house in Berry Street where they apprehended the suspect inside the premises.
It was believed to be the same suspect who had broken in at the house the week before because he was carrying clothes stolen from the premises a week earlier. The suspect was handed over to the police. – Rep reporter
