The Rep - - FRONT PAGE - SIMTEMBILE MGIDI

WHILE the police try to determine the identity of a burnt body found in the Eskom residential area of Mlungisi two weeks ago, the search continues for a 14-year-old girl from the same area who went missing on August 25.

The Rep reported on its website, www.therep.co.za , that Vuyolwethu Hemeni, a pupil of Edlelweni Primary School, did not return home after school. Hemeni was resident in the Eskom area.

An appeal was made for anyone with information to contact the investigating officer Detective Xolani Mtshagi on 071-852 4540 or 086-001011.

Two weeks later – and with the police issuing a renewed appeal for information on her whereabouts – the teenager remains missing.

This week the police confirmed that, while there had been speculation that there was a link between the missing girl and the body which was found, police could not confirm any link and that the two cases were being treated as separate.

DNA tests were being performed on the body, which had been found between the Eskom residential area and John Noah High School.

Mdleleni said a tyre was found around the body. The identity of the deceased was not yet known.
