POLICE in Komani have established a task team to investigate the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl from Mlungisi three weeks ago.

In the meantime, police confirmed this week that they continue to await the DNA results of a body found in the Eskom residential area three weeks ago.

Police spokeswoman Captain Namhla Mdleleni confirmed this week that the results had not yet been returned to the local police.

The body had been found between John Noah High School and the residential area, with a tyre placed around it.

Police are also continuing the search for a missing girl, Vuyolwethu Hemeni, 14, from the same area, who went missing on August 25. Hemeni, a pupil of Edlelweni Primary School, did not return home after school and was resident in the Eskom area.

Police confirmed last week (“Still gone” September 8) that while there had been speculation that there was a link between the missing child and the body, such a link could not be confirmed and the cases were being treated as separate.
