OWNERS DISTRAUGHT AT POISONING OF EIGHT DOGS IN KOMANI
DOG owners in the Weshof residential area were feeling distraught on Monday after eight dogs were poisoned during the night.
Owner of three of the dogs, Ronel Barnardo, said the dogs had been heard barking at about 2am. When the family woke up, they found two of the dogs dead in the yard and one severely ill. The last dog died at the vet’s office on Tuesday.
Five other dogs in the neighbourhood were also poisoned and died.
During the same night, police reported the theft of a white Isuzu bakkie, registration number CWZ 103 EC, from a home in the same area. It is not known at present whether the two incidents are linked.
Police spokesman Captain Namhla Mdleleni said police were investigating charges of malicious damage to property and theft of a vehicle. The vehicle had not been recovered at the time of going to press.
