A night on the town for winning cooks
THE winners from the Komani area and throughout the Eastern Cape in the SPAR Creative Cooking competition held last year travelled to Port Elizabeth last weekend to attend a gala dinner in
recognition of their efforts.
With the representatives of the various SPAR stores, more than 100 people gathered at the Boardwalk Convention Centre, where the venue had been beautifully prepared for the auspicious occasion.
Among them were Gcobisa Papiso, from Lady Frere, who was announced as the winner of the second prize overall, The Rep’s Penelope Mzamo, who won the Spargs SUPERSPAR competition with her screw carrot salad, and Nadeem Joshua, general manager of Tiso Black Star (The Rep’s holding company) in the Eastern Cape.
Each one a winner, the guests were presented with goodie bags of SPAR groceries and could enjoy a delicious meal prepared by someone else, while enjoying an evening of top-class entertainment.
CANNY COOK: Penelope Mzamo, whose day job is receptionist at The Rep, is also an award-winning cook in her spare time
HAPPILY EVER AFTER: Karin Maasberg and Percy Ridgard of Komani were recently married in St Francis Bay
