LAST Tuesday Red Guard response officers were summoned to two scenarios in which would-be thieves grabbed items from shops and ran away and a third when an elderly woman was robbed and wished to lay a charge.

The police were summoned and the matter handed over to them, operations manager Willie Reynecke told The Rep.

On Thursday a supermarket reported that two old women had stolen some items. The police were called and the matter handed over.

Response officers were summoned to a tavern which had called for help after a man had been robbed and stabbed in the stomach outside the premises and had run in for help. The paramedics were called to attend to him.

On Saturday another tavern called for assistance, saying an armed man had tried to rape a woman and members of the public were beating the alleged perpetrator. It was found that it was a toy gun which was confiscated. The woman declined to open a case.

That night officers responded to a panic alarm at a nursing concern where they found there had been a break-in, with a window forced open and the burglar bars bent. The police were called and a nearby guard pointed out the suspects who were apprehended and taken to the charge office. – Rep reporter
